We recently added a cedar wood hot tub. Instead of raising our nightly rates, we decided to keep it as an optional experience—so you can enjoy it if you’d like, without it affecting the nightly price for everyone else.
Our Cedar Wood hot tub is a hybrid system built in a small Canadian workshop that combines traditional wood fire with modern electric heating. It offers the best of both worlds: the comforting crackle and warmth of a wood-fired bath, along with the convenience and stability of electric temperature control.
About Our Hybrid Wood-Fired & Electric Hot Tub
Sustainability is important to us. The wood provided for the fire comes directly from our own forest. Rather than purchasing processed firewood, we collect naturally fallen trees from our land, cut them into rounds, and split them ourselves. While this requires considerable time and effort, we prefer using what nature provides instead of adding additional pressure on forest resources.
Because the wood comes from naturally fallen trees and is not kiln-dried, it may occasionally be slightly damp. This is part of the natural cycle of the forest we are lucky to live in.
We provide each guest with a hot tub–specific towel and a pair of flip-flops upon arrival. A shower with amenities is available in the hot tub area. Wood, firestarter, lighter, and kindling are also available. Please note that there is no toilet in this area—kindly use your designated restroom.

- Camper if you are staying overnight at Fancy Camp. *If you are staying in the apartment, your reservation includes (paid for) a private hot tub on your patio, available throughout the day. Booking the Cedar Wood Soaking experience is optional, should you wish to enjoy it as well.
- Visitor if you are just coming for the soak.

Our hot tub is always ready for use. You can add wood as you please.
GENERAL
- The hot tub is ready for use — add wood to reach your desired temperature
- Respect your booked time slot (other guests may follow)
- A clock is available to track your session
- This is a quiet area — please keep noise to a minimum
- Complaints may result in removal
BEFORE ENTERING
- Shower and wash with soap
- Swimsuits are mandatory
- Use provided towels (futās) & flip-flops located under the bench, or your own. Place futas when done in the basket located in the shower and the flip-flops under the bench
- Maximum 4 people per session
COVER INSTRUCTIONS
- Place cover on the left side of the platform when open (as per image)
- After use, close and latch securely
SAFETY
- No diving
- No glass containers
- Do not sit on the edge of the tub or platform
- No smoking, food, or pets
- Children under 12 are not allowed
- Children under 18 must be supervised
- Do not use if pregnant
- Use at your own risk
BEFORE LEAVING
- Clean the area
- Take all personal belongings
- Do not leave items unattended
- Close and latch cover securely
SHOWER AREA
- Do not touch or adjust the water heater
HOW TO USE WOOD
- Place 1–2 pieces of firewood in the firebox (back of tub)
- Light a small piece of fire starter and place it on top (lighter, starter and kindling available in metal box)
- Add small sticks or kindling
- Add 1–2 more pieces of firewood
- Keep firebox lid slightly open (close partially if it’s getting too hot)
- Add wood as needed
- Close the firebox completely when finished
